Going back to the Stone Age, Pollstar has been patting itself on the back for connecting a band called Rock Sugar with a major agency, our good friends of Paradigm. We posted a video to the band and they became one of – if not the only – band signed to Paradigm without a live rehearsal. Yup, the home of Aerosmith, Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Toby Keith and – get this – Ricky Skaggs, signed the band because we posted a link to their video of “Don’t Stop The Sandman.”  Our buds Brian and Curt showed the video to the office and, like everybody who’s seen it, they all went nuts. You know, started laughing when the vocals kicked in.

Well, the reason why we learned about the band is because of a podcast by a comedian named Mike Schmidt who learned about them from a listener, and gushed about them. Now, understand, Schmidt’s podcast is interesting because of its simplicity – he sits in a living room, telling stories about his life, or his week, while a girl howls in laughter in the background (a girl, by the way, who is HAWT).

OK, so Rock Sugar reads our posts here at Pollstar.com and they go and listen to the podcast. Singer Jess Harnell finds Schmidt hilarious. Guess what: They go on the show! Schmidt doesn’t do interviews but this is what you call paying back the people who do you good in this world, and Rock Sugar wanted to go on the “show,” meaning living room. So this damned band just goes to the living room. Schmidt’s never done an interview but, damn, he’s a natural. This might change things. We’re providing the link.

If this isn’t clear yet, this is one of those moments of perfection that can only come by the Interwebs. Real life doesn’t mesh like this. Think Der Humpink or the Trololo Cat. Please enjoy this podcast. Oh, and you best know what the acronym NSFW means before you click on the link.
