Whitney Postpones Paris Show

Back in February, Australian fans made a ruckus about Whitney Houston’s voice not being in tip-top shape. Fans in Paris won’t have to worry about whether the diva is “fit to perform” at tonight’s gig because the show has been postponed due to illness.

The show, which would have taken place at the Omnisport Bercy, was set to kick off her two-month European tour. The trek will now begin on Thursday with a two-night stand at the Manchester Evening News Arena in the U.K. The Paris show has been rescheduled for June 1 at the same venue.

A representative for the singer broke the news to fans through a statement on Whitney’s official Web site.

“Whitney is suffering from an upper respiratory infection and after a consultation with her doctors has been advised to postpone her performance. Whitney was excited to open her European tour in Paris and deeply regrets having been forced to postpone the show. Whitney and her band apologize that the show has to be rescheduled on such short notice.”

The European tour includes stops in Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden. Whitney closes out the tour June 10 with a show at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland.
