Whitney Denies Drug Rumors

Blaming an upper respiratory infection, Whitney Houston postponed a show in Paris and three dates in the U.K. Now the diva is denying a tabloid’s report that she’s taking drugs.

The illness claimed the diva earlier this week, forcing her to postpone Tuesday’s Paris gig to June 1. Houston later postponed her first three U.K. dates, moving this week’s Manchester engagements to June 16-17 and Glasgow to May 1.

But when Houston’s health is the subject, it usually means a tabloid somewhere is going to shout, “drugs!” In this case, it was In Touch Weekly doing the honors, quoting a reported eyewitness saying the Grammy-winning artist was allegedly sniffing cocaine in an exclusive Beverly Hills hotel.

Saying he saw the singer with ex-husband Bobby Brown in the Beverly Wilshire on March 10, the witness, identified as Marlon David, told In Touch he watched an “extremely thin” Houston walk into the hotel’s bar and scream, “I want a f***ing drink!” before allegedly pulling a bag containing white powder out of her purse.

“I saw her pull a plastic bag out, put a folded bill to her nose and discreetly snort a line from it of what to me certainly looked like cocaine,” David told In Touch.

While speaking to People, Houston said this week’s medical problems were caused by allergies and that she looks forward to resuming her tour. The singer also called reports of her using drugs “ridiculous.”

“At this point, I just don’t respond,” Houston said. “I don’t even read it.”
