More ‘Lust In Space’ From Gwar

Proving no one can escape its wrath, America’s favorite musical nightmare – Gwar – announces leg No. 2 of its “Lust In Space” tour.

Yes, it’s time for another round of latex, masks and codpieces as Gwar sets forth once again to terrorize audiences on behalf of its Lust In Space album, beginning June 1 in Toledo at Headliners.

Other stops include Fort Collins at the Aggie Theatre June 4; San Antonio at the White Rabbit June 7; Memphis at the New Daisy Theatre June 11; Allentown at Crocodile Rock June 17 and Boston at House Of Blues June 20. Last date on the tour is June 26 in Rutland, Ohio, at the 2010 Interpunk American Skate Fest.

Somewhere in the middle of all those club stops, Gwar will play Bonnaroo June 12. Here’s hoping the local farm animals are safely locked up before the band rolls into Manchester, Tenn. So far, Gwar has only issued one warning regarding its Bonnaroo appearance, saying it wants to “nasally violate” the Dave Matthews Band.

Of course, no Gwar tour announcement would be complete without the obligatory quote from the band. Today, that honor falls on guitarist Balsac The Jaws of Death.

“This is what we like to call the Tertiary Tornado Tour,” Balsac said. “This is the tour where we hit all the places we missed the first time across the U.S., from a host of reasons ranging from bad weather, poor directions or venereal diseases. Many people in these cities think they have escaped the wrath of Gwar, while others pray for our arrival. One thing is for sure … everybody’s gonna die!”
