Springsteen will appear with John Wesley Harding and poet Robert Pinsky in an afternoon described as “conversation and performance” May 6.

While Wamfest is open to the public, due to space limitations, the Springsteen/Pinksy/Harding event is open to the university’s students only.

Wamfest, whose title is a combination of “words and music” combines poetry art and music in a series of events bringing together artists from various fields. Also appearing at Wamfest during the first week of May is X’s John Doe and Exene Cervenka and poet Paul Muldoon.

According to the Wamfest blog written by FDU’s poet and Director of Creative Writing David Daniel, Harding became the official Wamfest artist in residence and curator in 2009.

In an unrelated Springsteen note, the American League’s Minnesota Twins cued up “Long Walk Home” after losing a home game at Target Field to the Boston Red Sox, 6-3 Wednesday. According to Minneapolis/St. Paul Star Tribune, the song, which appeared on Springsteen’s Magic album, will be played every time the ball club loses a home game.

It’s easy to imagine the Twins or, for that matter any ball club and its fans, quickly getting sick of the tune since every time it’s played signifies another loss for the home team. On the other hand, the Twins currently lead the American League’s central division 7-3, so maybe they’ll be able to keep the song’s spins to a minimum.
