A Promising Round Of Dates
The 21-year-old musician first joined his father on tour when he was just five weeks old, accompanying Willie on the Honeysuckle Rose bus as he performed along with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson as The Highwaymen.
Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real features Nelson along with drummer Anthony LoGerfo, bassist Corey McCormick and percussionist Tato Melgar.
“If one had any question at first as to whether Lukas could hold his own on stage or was only there as a result of nepotism, he laid any doubts to rest with his performance,” the Chico News & Reviews raved in a recent write-up.
“The younger Nelson’s soul-filled voice and guitar playing, combined with the mature (for such a young band) musical restraint and talent of his bandmates, was impressive. As he warmed up over the course of his set, it became obvious that he is a unique musical force in his own right. Akin to the proverbial velvet hammer, Lukas and his crew sneaked up on the crowd and knocked them dead.”
The band opens for Willie Nelson beginning with an April 30 gig at Morgantown Event Center At Waterfront Place in West Virginia through a May 13 performance at Crossroads Arena in Corinth, Miss.
Festival appearances include Fiesta Del Sol at Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach (June 5), Summerfest in Milwaukee (June 29), Eyes to the Skies Festival at Lisle Community Park in Illinois (July 4) and Blues at the Crossroads at Wabash Avenue & 7th Street in Terre Haute, Ind. (Sept. 11).
In July, Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real open for B.B. King with dates booked from a July 7 gig at Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pa., through a July 17 show at Charlottesville Pavilion in Va.
