B.I.G. Suit Dismissed

A wrongful-death civil lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles over the shooting of rapper Notorious B.I.G. has been dismissed after years in federal court.

The dismissal of the suit, which alleged that Los Angeles Police Department officers were involved in the killing of B.I.G. (real name Christopher Wallace) in 1997, could clear the way for arrests to be made in the ongoing criminal investigation.

Authorities will now have time to investigate the killing without worrying whether the LAPD will be found liable, according to Wallace estate attorney Bradley Gage.

The city and attorneys for the rapper’s estate have agreed the suit may be refiled at a later time.
