Thomas Does It For Charity
Thomas’ solo tour will help benefit the Sidewalk Angels Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the Matchbox Twenty frontman and his wife, Marisol, to work with local charities addressing social issues for animals as well as us upright-walking beasts.
The “Sidewalk Angels Foundation – Summer 2010 Tour” lifts off in Rama, Ont., at the Casino Rama Entertainment Center July 15, travels to Hinckley, Minn., for a gig at the Grand Casino July 16 and hits Temecula, Ca., at the Pechanga Casino Aug. 6.
Other stops include Friant, Ca., at Table Mountain Aug. 9; Las Vegas at the Red Rock Casino Resort Aug. 14 and Atlantic City at Borgata Hotel & Casino Aug. 20-21. Last show is in Biloxi, Miss., at the Imperial Casino Aug. 28.
Expect the shows to feature Thomas performing as a trio playing stripped-down versions of his solo tunes and Matchbox Twenty hits. Thomas recently released a four-song EP – Someday – featuring previously unreleased tracks, including “Sunday Morning New York Blue” and a live recording of “Someday.”
“It’s a chance for me, as a songwriter, to really highlight lyric and melody and to create different versions of songs that I’ve been playing for years,” Thomas said. “We’ll be doing my solo stuff, Matchbox Twenty songs and covers. It will be a real ‘Storytellers’ kind of vibe.”
