The First Tour Announcement Of The Week

Who will save us from those summertime blues? Could it be a co-headlining tour starring Gogol Bordello and Primus?

For Primus, the co-bill beginning the last week of July represents the band’s first tour in four years. Meanwhile, Gogo Bordello has been keeping busy, having just wrapped a U.S. tour before heading across the Pond for dates in the U.K. and Europe. The band’s fifth studio album – the Rick Rubin-produced Trans-Continental Hustle – has been receiving plenty of positive feedback from critics, including a shout-out from the Los Angeles Times saying the band “seems poised for a big-time breakthrough,” while NME called it “A wild pan-cultural fiesta.”

Although not touring to support a new release, Primus will head into the studio this year to record its first new album since 1999’s Antipop. Expect the new disc to land in stores in 2011.

The co-headline tour begins in Burlington, Vt., at Midway Lawn July 29, plays Williamsburg, N.Y., at the Waterfront July 30 and hits Sayersville, N.J., for a gig at the Starland Ballroom July 31. Other stops include Cleveland at the Time Warner Cable Amph. @ Tower City Aug. 3; Kansas City at the Uptown Theatre Aug. 10; Denver at Red Rocks Aug. 12 and Salt Lake City at The Rail Aug. 13.
