Official: Memorabilia Moved Before Opry Flooded

Officials say precious memorabilia was moved from the iconic Grand Ole Opry House before flood waters swept through.

Country music stars have performed at the Opry House for decades. Opry president Steve Buchanan said Friday that several important pieces were moved, though he did not give specifics.

Music lovers had worried classic costumes and set designs may have been destroyed by the floods that tore through Tennessee.

The Grand Ole Opry House, bottom, and Opry Mills Mall, top, are surrounded by floodwaters.

Buchanan says companies have been hired to try and restore what was damaged.

About 2 feet of water covered the Opry house’s stage, which will have to be replaced.

Meanwhile, the Gaylord Opryland Resort, the hotel next to the Opry house, won’t be taking bookings from now through October after it was flooded under as much as 10 feet of water.
