Jordin Sparks Summer Headlining Tour

Last year Jordin Sparks spent her time on stage opening for the Jonas Brothers and Britney Spears. Now it’s the season six “American Idol” winner’s time to shine with a summer headlining tour featuring performances in over 35 cities nationwide.

The tour kicks off June 2 at the Theatre of The Living Arts in Philadelphia and wraps up July 18 at The Pageant in St. Louis.

Additional dates include Northern Lights in Clifton Park, N.Y. (June 4), House of Blues in Cleveland (June 17), Ogden Theatre in Denver (July 12), Club Nokia in Los Angeles (July 9) and First Avenue in Minneapolis (July 16).

The 20-year-old R&B/pop singer is touring in support of her sophomore album, 2009’s Battlefield. The album, and its first single of the same name, debuted high on the charts, following the lead of her debut, self-titled album which earned U.S. platinum status and has sold over 1.6 million copies worldwide.

Tickets to “Jordin Sparks, The Battlefield Tour” are on sale now. The trek is being presented by Mike and Ike, marking the second year of Sparks’ exclusive partnership with the candy company.

Mike and Ike, along with its charitable partner Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, are hooking Sparks up with a tour vehicle. Fans attending the summer tour can check out a green screen photo booth where they can snag a free virtual photo with the singer in addition to taking home samples of their favorite Mike and Ike candies.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer was started in 2000 by a four-year-old cancer patient named Alex Scott (1996-2004) who wanted to help find a cure for children with cancer by holding her own lemonade stand. Since Alex first held her lemonade stand on her family’s front yard the charity has raised more than $25 million towards finding a cure by funding over 100 research projects nationally.

Once Sparks wraps up her summer tour the singer will make her Broadway debut as the lead role of Nina Rosario in the Tony- and Grammy-winning musical “In the Heights.”

Fans can catch Sparks on Broadway during a 12-week limited engagement from Aug. 19 through Nov. 14.
