UMG Cleared In Remy Ma Shooting

Universal Music Group is not accountable for Remy Ma shooting her acquaintance in 2007, according to a New York appeals court.

The Grammy Award-nominated rapper was convicted of assault and other charges for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph outside a Manhattan nightclub, and she is serving an eight-year prison sentence.

Barnes-Joseph is suing the rapper and the club. The appeals court upheld a lower court’s decision to dismiss Universal, which was affiliated with Remy Ma but ended its contract with the rapper nine months before the shooting.
