Jazz Virtuoso Hank Jones Dies

Hank Jones, a jazz piano virtuoso whose stellar career spanned eight decades, died age 91 in a Bronx, N.Y., hospital May 16.

His manager reportedly confirmed Jones suffered from prostate cancer.

Over his career, Jones accompanied a range of performers from Charlie Parker to Captain Kangaroo.

Jones received a lifetime achievement Grammy Award last year and the National Medal of Arts in 2008.

He was preceded in death by two brothers who were also notable jazz artists.

Youngest brother Elvin Jones was a member of John Coltrane’s legendary quartet.
