Suge Knight Back To His Old Tricks

Marion “Suge” Knight started his Thursday off with an early morning arrest in Gardena, Calif. The ex-rap music mogul is now facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly pointing a gun at a man.

After someone called the authorities claiming that Knight had pointed a gun at him and then drove off in his Cadillac, California Highway Patrol officers pulled over Knight’s white Escalade at about 12:30 a.m.

Los Angeles police surrounded the vehicle and the co-founder of the now defunct Death Row Records was handcuffed and then booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon.

“He was cooperative,” Los Angeles police officer April Harding said.

Knight is being held on $65,000 bail. He is also facing charges that he allegedly drove with a suspended license.

The Associated Press noted that it wasn’t immediately clear if Knight was still on parole. If so, because he is a convicted felon, carrying a gun is a parole violation which could send him back to the slammer.

Getting in trouble with the law is nothing new for the 45-year-old.

In 1996 he was jailed for five years for violating his probation stemming from a 1992 assault conviction.

In 2003 Knight once again violated parole by punching a parking attendant at a Hollywood nightclub. He was sent back to jail and released the next year.

Last year he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery for beating his then-girlfriend while brandishing a knife. The guilty plea deal dismissed two felony drug charges and one felony coercion charge.

In March Yukmouth accused Knight and 10 members of his crew of beating the rapper and then taking off with $92,000 worth of jewelry. The alleged incident took place at a Ralph’s supermarket in the San Fernando Valle, according to TMZ.

Death Row Records was home to rappers including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur. In 1996 Shakur was shot and killed while riding in Knight’s car in Las Vegas.  Afterward the label went downhill, eventually filed for bankruptcy and was sold.
