Mr. McCartney Goes To Washington
Elvis Costello, Jonas Brothers, Stevie Wonder and Jack White are just some of the artists honoring Sir Paul McCartney at a concert taking place at the White House next month.
Macca is the third recipient of the “Gershwin Prize,” an honor created by the Library of Congress in 2007 in honor of Gershwin brothers Ira and George, composers of such hits as “I Got Rhythm,” “Embraceable You” and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” as well as the opera “Porgy & Bess.”

McCartney was selected in 2009 to receive the third Gershwin Prize. Previous recipients are Paul Simon in 2007 and Stevie Wonder in 2008.
The concert and award presentation will take place June 2 in the East Room at the White House. Also scheduled to appear are Faith Hill, Emmylou Harris, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl plus many other artists. In case your own White House invitation gets lost in the mail, you can watch the event July 28 on PBS.
