Founded in 1969 by members of Small Faces after Steve Marriott left to launch Humble Pie, Faces was often compared to The Rolling Stones as one of England’s top bands. Boozy, bluesy and fronted by Rod Stewart, Faces’ lineup consisted of several top-flight British musicians, including guitarist Ronnie Wood, drummer Kenney Jones, keyboardist Ian McLagan and bassist Ronnie Lane, who left the band in 1973 and passed away in 1997.

Like last year’s gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall benefiting the Performing Rights Society’s Music Members’ Benevolent Fund – the band’s first performance since 1975 – this year’s reunion is a one-off with Faces performing at the music and design festival known as “Vintage At Goodwood” Aug. 13. Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall, who was one of several vocalists at last year’s concert, will once again sing in place of Stewart while former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock handles bass.

“We got together to receive a PRS Lifetime Achievement award last year and very simply the magic was still there,” Wood said in a statement. “Playing with the boys again just felt right so we thought well why not? It’s exciting to be on this path again and I hope that the Faces fans are excited as we are – I’m just really looking forward to seeing them this summer – bring it on!”
