Rock The Bells 2010 Lineup
The trek includes two dates on the West Coast and two stops on the East Coast. The good times begin Aug. 21 at National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino, Calif., and then continue the following day at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif. On Aug. 28 Rock The Bells does its thing at Sound Island Field @ Governors Island in New York. The tour wraps up Aug. 29 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md.
“Ultimately, our goal is to always present something that is historic,” said Bells founder Chang Weisberg. “This year’s show is the epitome of that tradition. Some things new and fresh, some things classic and legendary, and something that you’ve never seen or may never see and hear again. That’s the formula. I am excited for this year’s festivals and hope everyone is as hyped up as I am.”
Wu-Tang Clan will wow fans by performing the group’s debut 1993 album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) from beginning to end. Slick Rick is doing his debut album, 1988’s The Great Adventures of Slick Rick.
Rakim will also be there, performing 1987’s Paid in Full, his first full-length album with Eric B. KRS-ONE will show off his debut album, 1987’s Criminal Minded.
The lineup also includes additional performances by the Street Sweeper Social Club (featuring Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and The Coup’s Boots Riley),
MURS and 9th Wonder, Wiz Khalifa, Clipse, Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks, Brother Ali, DJ Muggs and Ill Bill, Big Sean and Yelawolf. Festival organizers promise that Lauryn Hill will also make an appearance as a special guest.
Rock The Bells 2010 is hosted by Supernatural and DJ Rocky Rock. The event also features breakdancing courtesy of BBoys and BGirls.
The fest is helping out with Haiti earthquake relief efforts by donating a portion of the proceeds to the Hip Hop and Hope For Haiti organization.
