This week’s episode features an inside look at Avenged Sevenfold in the studio as they record their latest album, Nightmare.

A highlight of the show is a look at Dream Theatre’s Mike Portnoy tracking the drum into on the project’s title track. Although Portnoy tracked all the drums on the album, the lines were actually written by Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan before his untimely death in 2009.

When it came time to translate what The Rev had written, the other members of Avenged Sevenfold felt the only logical choice was Portnoy, who was the late drummer’s favorite contemporary and will be filling in on tour with the band through the end of the year.
