Organizers of the July 9-11 event, which returns once again to Louisville’s 74-acre Waterfront Park, made the announcement this morning, before unveiling the festival’s art and activism lineup and this year’s keynote speaker.

Rob Coughlin, former president of The Surfrider Foundation, will step up to the podium to deliver his views on a number of environmental topics, including endangered species, population stabilization, ocean protection, the history of the American environmental movement and how each of us can get involved.

Featured art and activism activities include the San Francisco-based Sustainable Living Roadshow, an outdoor extreme sports park, the Sprouts “Rock and Relax” children’s zone, a renewable energy showcase, a green marketplace, educational panels, workshops and environmental art installations by renowned sculptors Leticia Bajuyo, Joyce Ogden and Todd C. Smith.

Among the more than 100 bands scheduled to take to Forecastle’s stages are The Flaming Lips, Widespread Panic, Spoon, Devo, Cake, She & Him, Drive-By Truckers, Bassnectar, Umphrey’s McGee, Against Me!, Minus the Bear, Manchester Orchestra and many others.

Also set to add flair to the mix with daily and nightly performances is Los Angeles-based Cirque Berzerk, a circus troupe that combines aerial acrobatics, French burlesque and a punk rock attitude.

And for festival-goers who just don’t want the party to end, a pair of after parties will take place aboard the Belle of Louisville, with Big Gigantic and Ana Sia handling Friday night’s entertainment and EOTO stepping in on Saturday.

Three-day passes, priced at $150, and single day tickets, priced at $60, are available from the usual suspects, as well as area music retailers including ear-X-tacy in Louiville, Shake-It Records in Cincinnati, CD Central in Lexington, Indy CD and Vinyl in Indianapolis and Grimey’s in Nashville.

Complete details on exclusive boat slips, VIP packages, other deluxe ticketing options, campground accommodations and on-site hotel rooms are available at ForecastleFest.com, along with directions, additional lodging info, a complete lineup and set times.
