You could say STP has been teasing U.S. fans. The band announced a European tour in March, promising dates in the U.S. would be announced.

Adding to the excitement was the news that the band’s self-titled sixth studio effort – the first in nine years – would drop at the end of May.

And although they dangled a few U.S. dates in front of us in March, like the band’s appearance at South by Southwest in Austin, we were still left waiting for that big summer tour of America.

The wait is over.

STP begins its late summer tour at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre Aug. 7. Other dates include Sturgis S.D., at the Glencoe Camp Resort Aug. 11; Saint Paul at Roy Wilkins Auditorium Aug. 13; Chicago at Charter One Pavilion Aug. 20; Detroit at Fox Theatre Aug. 26; Boston at Bank Of America Pavilion Sept. 1 and Holmdel, N.J., at the PNC Bank Arts Center. Last date on the schedule is Tempe at the Beach Park Amphitheatre 17.

But if that isn’t enough of a tease to get you salivating, the band is running a contest to send two lucky fans to the band’s Red Rock’s show Aug. 7. Along with getting two tickets to the gig, the grand prize also includes airfare to the Mile High City, hotel accommodations for two nights and $250 walking around money.
