One World, One Love, One Bolton

Michael Bolton has sold more than 53 million records, has won several Grammys, six American Music Awards and many songwriting accolades. Of course, he really hasn’t tasted success until he plays your town. Details inside.

If you were paying attention during the late 1970s you might remember Bolton fronting a rock band called Blackjack that also included current Grand Funk Railroad / former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick. As a member of Blackjack, Bolton even appeared as the opening act on an Ozzy Osbourne tour.

These days Bolton is known more for his stylized vocals.  Crossing all genres, not only has Bolton chalked up numerous gold and platinum albums, but he’s had plenty of success as a songwriter. Sure, he’s penned most of his repertoire, but he’s also written songs for singers as varied as Conway Twitty, Barbra Streisand and Patti LaBelle and has co-written tunes with Bob Dylan.

Bolton’s latest album is One World, One Love, which includes collaborations with Ne-Yo and Lady Gaga. Of course, he has a tour to go with it.

After appearing in Beijing June 5, Bolton heads to Europe where he plays Holland’s June 10, does a one-nighter in Paris at the Olympia Theatre June 15 and hits London for a show at Hampton Court Palace June 17. July means more Euro stops, including Munich at the July 19 and Constanta, Romania, July 30. Sandwiched in between the two July appearances is a show in Lincoln, R.I., at Twin River July 23.

But it’s August when Bolton’s U.S. run shifts into high gear. After playing a show in Garda Lake, Italy, Aug. 3, Bolton launches a U.S. run starting in Tacoma at the Emerald Queen Casino Aug. 13.

But this isn’t a casino run. A quick browse through the itinerary shows Bolton playing several performing arts centers and one or two amphitheatres in addition to casino shows. Such as Vancouver at the PNE Amphitheatre Aug. 23; Chandler, Ariz., at Chandler Center For The Arts Sept. 10; Wichita at the Orpheum Performing Arts Center Oct. 12 and Atlanta at the Ferst Center For The Arts Oct. 28.
