The National’s Nationwide Fall Dates

After wrapping up this month’s U.S. and Canadian shows, The National plans to spend the rest of 2010 zigzagging across the Atlantic for a few treks to Europe and a slew of brand new U.S. dates.

The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based indie rock band is touring in support of its fifth studio album, High Violet. The album, which was released in May, has earned glowing reviews from publications including Newsweek, which named it “the band’s best so far,” and New York Times Magazine, which wrote that “The National is in a league of its own.”

The band’s live shows have also been earning kudos. After catching the band’s May 21 gig at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern, the Los Angeles Times wrote that “there’s high drama in the music of The National” and that the group “eased grace and beauty.”

On June 26 The National play Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm in Pilton, U.K., followed by additional U.K. shows as well as gigs in Netherlands, Germany, France and Portugal.

In late July and early August it’s back to the U.S. and Canada for several dates before returning to Europe for gigs in Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium and Netherlands.
