Yet Another AZ Cancellation

You can add another name to the list of acts boycotting Arizona’s controversial new immigration law. Daryl Hall & John Oates have canceled a post-game performance scheduled for Chase Field in Phoenix.

The duo was scheduled to play the baseball stadium after a Diamondbacks game July 2.

Hall & Oates is the latest act to cancel an appearance in Arizona since the state’s governor signed into law a bill calling for police to check the immigration / citizenship status of anyone suspected of being an illegal alien. In announcing the cancellation, the artists said their action has nothing to do with the Diamondbacks, according to USA Today.

“In addition to our personal convictions, we are standing in solidarity with the music community in our boycott of performing in Arizona at this time,” Hall & Oates said in a statement. “We would like to emphasize that this has nothing to do with the management of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have been professional and cooperative throughout our dealings with them. This is our response to a very specific action of the state.”
