Canadian Promoter Ordered To Pay Up

Garth Mackie, a promoter who canceled a benefit concert featuring Randy Bachman in Yellowknife, Canada, in the Northwest Territory in July 2009 has been ordered by a judge to repay ticketholders who have yet to get a refund.

On May 31, Chief Judge Robert Gorin reportedly ordered Mackie to pay four ticketholders, who filed a legal claim seeking $600 in April, a total of $782, according to Northern News Services.

The plaintiffs reportedly purchased 10 tickets for the concert that was to benefit a local sports team. Mackie cited poor ticket sales for the cancellation.

Mackie was given about two weeks to make good on the plaintiffs’ refund but reportedly told NNS he’d already sent the payment.
