Judds Reunite for Tour
The awards and accolades given to Naomi and Wynonna Judd when they were on top of the country music charts during the 1980s are almost endless. Winning more than 60 industry awards, including multiple CMA, ACM and Grammy honors, The Judds sold 20 million albums in six years and was one of most popular touring acts on the concert scene.
But everything eventually comes to and end and for The Judds it was mother Naomi’s health problems that resulted in her retiring and leaving daughter Wyonnna to carry on as a solo artist.
Of course, Judds fans know this isn’t the first reunion tour for the pair. That was “Power To Change” tour in 2000. The duo has also done a few one-offs since then, including an appearance at the 2008
“There is nothing like music and laughter to connect people, Naomi Judd said. “How I’ve missed that encounter with the very ones who’ve allowed us that awesome privilege! I’m counting the days till I can be back on my bus, visiting their towns.”
When it came to naming the reunion tour, Naomi and Wynonna held a “Name That Tour” contest. Murfreesboro, Tenn., resident Jacqualine Budgell came up with the winning entry, calling the outing “The Last Encore Tour.”
“This tour gives me a chance to enjoy where Mom and I are in our relationship,” Wynonna said. “I look forward to celebrating our personal and professional journey … together.”
That journey begins in Green Bay, Wis., at the Resch Center Nov. 26, plays Mt. Pleasant, Mich., at Soaring Eagle Casino Nov. 27 and stops in Moline, Ill., at the I wireless Center Nov. 28. Other cities on the itinerary include Prior Lake, Minn.; Columbus, Ohio; as well as Louisville, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, Oakland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
