Heat Likely Factor In Bonnaroo Death
Extreme heat is believed to have caused the death of a man at the Bonnaroo music festival.
According to Frank Watkins, a captain for the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, the 29-year-old man collapsed early Sunday morning in front of staff at a medical tent on the festival grounds near Manchester.
WSMV-TV in Nashville reported the man’s core temperature spiked at 108 degrees. His identity has not been released.
Watkins said there was no immediate sign of trauma or foul play. A toxicology screen, to be done as part of an autopsy in Nashville, could show if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The toxicology screen will take several weeks.
