Colorado Theatres Merge

Officials with the Boulder and Fox theatres in Boulder, Colo., announced June 15 the venues have combined operations and staff under a new parent company, Z2 Entertainment, after several months of discussion.

Boulder Theatre GM Cheryl Liguori told the city’s Daily Camera the merger is a win-win situation.

“I believe that this is going to be an incredible thing for Boulder and for all of our patrons and for both businesses to be complementing each other rather than competing,”Liguori said. “There’s a lot of potential and we hope to continue long into the future.”

The 625-capacity Fox Theatre and 1,000-capacity Boulder Theatre will combine staff. Ticketing operations will be through Front Gate tickets. Bookings for both theatres will be tailored on a case-by-case basis.

Principals in Z2 Entertainment include Liguori, Fox Theatre GM Brian Carp, AEG Live Rocky Mountain’s Don Strasburg and Boulder Theatre owner Doug Greene.

The merger also needs the approval of the Boulder Beverage Licensing Authority board, which was scheduled for discussion June 16, the paper said.

Carp and Liguori were not available for comment at press time.
