Dylan’s Summer Travels

It wouldn’t be a summer without Bob Dylan dates. Thankfully, the Bard of Minnesota is staying true to form.

Dylan has been hitting the summer touring circuit pretty regularly during the past few years, setting a pattern that often begins the season in Europe then comes back across the pond for U.S. dates usually beginning in August. We say “usually” because Dylan opted to tour Australia and New Zealand in August ’07 and didn’t begin his U.S. summer tour until September of that year.

Here’s how the summer game plan is shaping up. The tour begins Aug. 4 in Austin at the Backyard, plays Oklahoma City’s Zoo Amphitheatre Aug. 6; Kansas City’s Starlight Theatre Aug. 7 and then heads to Lincoln, Neb., for a gig at Haymarket Park Aug. 8.

Other dates in the Dylan scheme of things include Sturgis, S.D., at the Buffalo Chip Campground Aug. 10; Billings, Mont., at Dehler Park Aug. 11; Casper, Wyo., at Mike Lansing Field Aug. 12; Las Vegas at the Colosseum At Caesars Palace Aug. 18; Ontario, Calif., at the Citizens Business Bank Arena Aug. 19 and Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival Sept. 4.
