Murphy Dishes The Dirt
In what’s being described as a “bookend” to his appearance in the 1983 vampire flick “The Hunger,” Murphy will have a short cameo in the upcoming installment of the Twilight series, “Eclipse,” where he portrays a character listed simply as “The Cold One.”
Murphy embarks on his “Dirty Dirt” tour one month later, kicking off the road trip in Paris at La Machine du Moulin Rouge July 29 and playing Portugal’s Evora Festival in Alentajo July 30. Then it’s across the Channel to the United Kingdom for a string of bookings beginning Aug. 1 at Wolverhampton’s Slade Room and running through Aug. 7 in Blackpool at the Rebellion Festival. Other stops include Glasgow, London and Sheffield as well as a Dublin date slotted for the first week in August.
Murphy also has a couple of North American dates on his itinerary – Aug. 8 in Hamilton, Ont., at the Festival Of Friends and Aug. 10 in Toronto at Lee’s Palace.
But this is being hailed as a “worldwide” tour, so expect more dates to be announced shortly.
As to Murphy’s new album, you’ll have to wait until fall for Ninth, which has been in the can for quite some time, giving Murphy plenty of chances to perform the new tracks on stage. Produced by David Baron, Ninth is Murphy’s 9th studio album and his most recent since 2004’s Shattered.
“I have had my Ninth album ready to go for a while now,” Murphy said. “I’ve been playing it live, alongside Bauhaus classics and my own hits, long before the official release and it’s added more stardust to the long shelf life of songs I have under my belt.”
Murphy has plenty of web properties under his belt as well. Click here for his website, here for his MySpace page, here for his Twitter home and here for his Facebook residence.
