Festivals Survey

Research by the University of Wollongong in Australia revealed that 2,856 festivals were staged across regional New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania two years ago.

The report “Reinventing Rural Places: The Extent And Impact Of Festivals In Rural And Regional Australia,” surveyed how these brought money into the local economies (a total of $10 billion, with visitors spending $450 per person, per festival) and created a community spirit.

The Victorian city of Ballarat had the most, with 73 festivals.
