Dr. Dre And Timbaland Go Back To School

The class of 2010 at Culver City High School may soon forget the speeches that were read during their graduation but they’ll always remember their graduation party thanks to Dr. Dre and Timbaland.

The former high school students were treated to the best graduation present a kid could ask for when the rapper-producers made a surprise appearance at Wednesday night’s graduation party at the Culver City, Calif., high school gymnasium.

Dr. Dre introduced Timbaland, who performed “The Way I Are,” “Promiscuous Girl,” “Carry Out” and “Say Something.”

During the surprise show Timbaland asked the shocked students, “Y’all got a curfew?”

Hewlett-Packard and Interscope Records put on the show as a promotional event for their new partnership which aims to improve digital sound quality.

The event was recorded for an online documentary and included free food, photos and a raffle of HP gear. Hewlett-Packard also threw in a donation to the school of $10,000 worth of computer equipment.

Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope, Geffen and A&M Records, also showed up to hang with the new graduates. When asked if Dr. Dre and Timbaland might collaborate on a future release, he said, “We should be so lucky. I can only get them so close. The rest is up to them.”

Dr. Dre is working on his third studio album, Detox, as a long-awaited follow-up to his 1999 album, 2001. Timbaland’s most recent album is 2009’s Shock Value II.
