These days Daniels and his home state of Michigan seem to be inseparable, what with his role as spokesman for the state’s travel industry in an ad campaign that has been running for the last couple of years. But the actor’s love for his home state is genuine. He created The Purple Rose Theatre Company for his hometown of Chelsea, and helps support the non-profit venture by taking his one-man music show out on the road for two weeks every year around Christmas and New Year’s.

Now he’s extending those road trips, stepping over the Michigan state line, taking his show throughout America. Sure, it’s still just him and his guitar, but he’s covering locales that may not be all that familiar with his music side, like Nebraska, Georgia and even Alaska.

Of course, there’s plenty of Michigan dates on the schedule as well with the tour beginning in Lexington, Mich., at the Lexington Music & Theater Company Aug. 20. After a few more dates in his home state he ventures to Indianapolis for a show at Radio Radio Aug. 25, plays Newport, Ky., at Southgate House Aug. 26 and lands in Nashville at 3rd & Lindsley Aug. 27.

Other non-Mich. stops include New York City at City Winery Oct. 18; Atlanta at Smith’s Olde Bar Oct. 30; Omaha at Holland P.A.C. Nov. 3 and Anchorage at Sydney Laurence Theatre Nov. 20.

All proceeds from CD sales go to support The Purple Rose Theatre Company. For more information, click here for Jeff Daniels’ website and here for the Purple Rose Theatre Company.
