The xx Announce Fall Dates

The xx have announced a round of fall U.S. and Canadian dates, giving North American fans one last chance to see the band this year before the indie rock band takes a break from touring to work on their sophomore album.

North American fall dates begin Sept. 22 at Hollywood Palladium in California, and wrap up Oct. 9 with a performance at Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park in Texas.

Additional shows include Fox Theatre in Oakland, Calif. (Sept. 23), Chicago Theatre (Sept. 28), Place des Arts in Montreal (Oct. 1), United Palace in New York (Oct. 2), 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. (Oct. 5), The Tabernacle in Atlanta (Oct. 6) and Granada Theater in Dallas (Oct. 8).

Fans can also catch the London-based trio at Lollapalooza at Grant Park in Chicago (Aug. 7) and Central Park SummerStage in New York (Aug. 8).

This weekend The xx will spend its time rocking out at Glastonbury at Worthy Farm in Pilton, United Kingdom, followed by festival appearances across Europe including Festival Beauregard in France (July 2), Melt! Festival in Germany (July 16), Way Out West Festival in Sweden (Aug. 13), Oya Festival in Norway (Aug. 14) and Flow Festival in Finland (Aug. 15).

The xx’s Jamie Smith, who handles beats and production, told Pollstar that after playing Austin City Limits the band plans on initially taking some time to just kick back.

“At the end of October we are going home. I think we’re going to take a couple months off from each other because we’re constantly around each other right now and that can be stressful. And then we’re going to try and buy our own studio and get back to it.”

Smith says the band has “no plans” for its follow-up to 2009’s xx.

“The first album was done with no intentions and absolutely no idea of what was coming. So if we can get back into that mind frame and try and not worry what people are going to think, then I think it will come out.”
