Jim Ramsey Dies

Jim Ramsey, a prominent promoter in Austin, Texas, from 1986 to 1993, died of liver cancer June 29.

Ramsey, 58, made a name for himself by bringing artists such as U2, Elvis Costello and Talking Heads to the area, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

His 1983 concert with the Police reportedly drew 30,000 fans and put Southpark Meadows on the map.

He’s also known for booking Gang Of Four at Austin’s Club Foot the same night Ronald Reagan was elected president, the paper said.

Ramsey owned and operated Cactus Advertising since 1998.
