The Australian Empire

The Australian government is paying for 10 Aussie acts to tour abroad to make their mark.

It is via its International Pathways initiative, through its funding and advisory body the Australia Council for the Arts.

The best-known of these acts is Empire of the Sun. The group has booked a tour of the U.S., including dates in New York, Los Angeles as well as a headline slot on Perry’s Stage at Lollapalooza and a slot at the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco.

The other acts are punk band Eddy Current Suppression Ring and 50 Lions, indie rockers Cloud Control, indie-dance pioneers Midnight Juggernauts, acoustic band The Middle East, blues-rockers The Fumes, comedy troupe Tripod, roots guitarist Jeff Lang and vocal harmony trio The Little Stevies.
