Last Tour Gets 120,000 Rockers

Last Tour International’s decision to run Sonisphere on the same weekend as its regular BBK Live festival appears to have paid
off, as the two Spanish fests shifted close to 120,000 tickets.

Rammstein, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Bullet For My Valentine, Faith No More, Coheed & Cambria and Volbeat were among the acts to play both events.

The annual festival at Kobetamendi, a park in the mountainous region just outside Bilbao, did the better of the two, attracting 76,539 at an average of 25,573 per day. It also had the best single-day sales, as there were 31,432 to see a July 9 bill that had Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Paul Weller, Gogol Bordello and Coheed & Cambria.

In Madrid, the two-day Sonisphere held on the 50,000-capacity Getafe Park pulled 43,102 at an average of 21,551 per day. The second-day crowd was the best as 23,850 showed for a bill that included Ramm-stein, Megadeth, Deftones, Soulfly and Alice In Chains.

Other acts on the Sonisphere bill July 10-11 included Suicidal Tendancies, Wasp, Saxon and Porcupine Tree. The July 9-11 BBK Live bill also had Biffy Clyro, Manic Street Preachers, Jeff Tweedy, Gomez, and Feeder.
