Crest Of A Wave
The third staging of Mares Vivas Festival showed the event and the Portuguese outdoor market are both bearing up well as two of the three days were sold out.
Jorge Lopes of Portoventos, which organises the event by the River Douro near Oporto, says 16,000 were there to see the first-night bill headed by Guns N’ Roses, Goldfrapp and Morcheeba.
The first night of Mares Vivas, which means “choppy waters,” has never sold out, but this year Lopes was delighted the second and third nights produced 20,000-capacity crowds.
The other acts at Mares Vivas July 15-17 included Peaches, Placebo, Ben Harper & Relentless 7, Editors and dEUs.
