No Charges For Wale Profanity

Baltimore city officials won’t be taking legal action against rapper Wale for reportedly cursing and using racial slurs during his set at the city’s free Artscape festival July 18 after all.

Bill Gilmore of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts said July 26 that officials were disturbed by the headliner’s offensive language and are reviewing Wale’s contract to make sure it was stated the festival is a family-friendly event.

“He’s not known to do that kind of performance,” Gilmore told the Baltimore Sun. “We were pretty much caught off-guard.”

BPOA staff are now discussing ways to prevent a similar incident from happening in the future.

“It was a tough lesson and we need to move on,” Gilmore told the paper.
