Renovating Frederik Meijer Gardens

The amphitheater at Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Mich., is getting sized up for some pending renovations this fall.

Upgrades to the 1,750-capacity shed will include increasing its seating capacity by 200, repositioning the soundboards to increase sightlines, the additions of a new building for concessions and merchandise and 94 new parking spaces, according to the Grand Rapids Press.

“The tremendous growth of our concert series in the past eight years has led us to make improvements to the concert experience while maintaining the unique characteristics of the venue that our concertgoers expect,” Gardens CEO David Hooker told the paper.

Upcoming concerts include Chris Isaak, Natalie MacMaster, Lyle Lovett and Melissa Etheridge.
