U2 Scores For The Irish

U2’s concert at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin Aug. 6 has caused Italian soccer club Juventus – which plays its home games there – to move its Europa League clash scheduled for the same night to Modena.

Modena is 200 miles away, so the Turin-based side may feel they’ve not been given home advantage in either match of the two-legged tie.

The team to benefit – in the sense it’ll be playing the first match at home and the second on a neutral ground – is Irish side Shamrock Rovers, which comes from U2’s home city of Dublin.

“Apparently U2 have the stadium booked as part of their European tour so the venue is being moved to Modena,” Shamrock Rovers chairman Jonathan Roche told the Irish Times.

U2 has booked the venue for the next two weeks to rehearse for the return of their 360° tour after Bono’s back injury forced the band to postpone dates including a headline slot at .
