Aussie Heavyweights Launching New Agency

Veteran Sydney-based booking agent Brett Murrihy of Premier Harbour, Australia’s largest agency, is launching a new agency called Artist Voice, a joint venture with Michael Gudinski’s Mushroom Group of Companies.

Murrihy’s partner in the business is Matt Gudinski, who runs Melbourne-based management and talent agency Illusive Entertainment and Sounds. Artist Voice is expected to open in September with a roster of 40 acts.

Murrihy co-founded posse.com, which allows fans to sell concert tickets for a commission. He says Artist Voice will provide services that other Australian agencies do not, and will market acts heavily through new technology.

“Live revenue streams are of ever-increasing importance to artists today and we’re determined at Artist Voice to maximize these opportunities for our stable of artists,” he said.

Added Matt Gudinski, “The day of the traditional gig booking is fast fading. There are endless opportunities out there.”

The 40-strong roster includes acts that have attained international acclaim, including Paul Kelly, The Temper Trap, Empire of the Sun, Scribe, Evermore, Howling Bells, Liam Finn and Operator Please.

The Mushroom Group of Companies includes Premier Harbour, the Frontier Touring Company, Roundhouse Entertainment as well as record labels and a TV and movie production house.
