D.C. Club Owner Files Chapter 11

Washington, D.C., club owner Marc Barnes has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for his venues Love and The Park At Fourteenth.

The filing protects the venues from creditors as well as furthers the pending sale of the four-story Love nightclub, The Wall Street Journal reported. The Park At Fourteenth reportedly is not affected by the bankruptcy and remains open.

The Chapter 11 petition shows the company has about $50,000 in assets and between $1 million and $10 million in debt.

Barnes has already dealt with problems related to Love including a temporary shutdown by police in January after a non-fatal stabbing and two other reported incidents of violence at the club.

Record-breaking snowstorms also damaged the venue, which was cleared to reopen in the spring.
