A Few More Things: Elton John, Weezer & Rod Stewart

A 70-something fan starts a crazy catfight during Elton John’s concert, Weezer reveals its new “Lost” inspired cover art and Rod Stewart prepares to send out birth announcements once again.

Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting
A brawl during Elton John’s recent gig at the Sporting Club in Monte Carlo, Monaco, proves that you’re never too old to fight for your right to see the show on stage.

The New York Post reports that a 70-year-old woman started a fight with another fan because the 30-something woman was obstructing her view.

A witness said, “The two of them were each wearing what looked like 70 carats of diamonds and ball gowns that looked equally expensive.”

After yelling at the younger fan in French, the older concertgoer grabbed the woman’s hair and “pulled out a gigantic blonde weave.” While waiting for security, they women proceeded to slap and kick each other from the comfort of their seats. The fight ended with the 70-year-old fan throwing a glass of champagne at the younger concertgoer before finally being escorted out.

The New York Post notes that Elton noticed the brawl but didn’t let the fight interrupt his performance of “Tiny Dancer.”

Hurley
Weezer has revealed the cover art for its eighth studio album, Hurley, and it makes about as much sense as ABC’s “Lost” TV series.

As a follow-up to 2009’s Raditude, the cover of Hurley simply features a close-up of the smiling mug of Jorge Garcia, best known as “Hurley” from “Lost.”

“We struggled super hard trying to come up with an album title,” frontman Rivers Cuomo told Spinner. “I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn’t really have anything to do with anything. I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia – it just had this amazing vibe. We didn’t want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as ‘the Hurley record’ even if left it without that title, so we just called it ‘Hurley.’ No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face.”

The new album doesn’t include any songs inspired by “Lost.” Cuomo said he really likes the hit show but that he only recently started watching it after meeting Garcia.

Hurley is set for release Sept. 14 on Epitaph Records.
