Dancer Lorene Yarnell Dies

Lorene Yarnell, of the Shields and Yarnell comedy mime team famous in the 1970s, died of a brain aneurysm July 29 at her home in Sandefjord, Norway.

Yarnell, 66, was a dancer who performed on “The Carol Burnett Show” and “The Dean Martin Show” before meeting Robert Shields.

The duo began working together in 1972 and married that October. Shields and Yarnell’s regular spot on CBS’ “The Sonny And Cher Comedy Hour” led to the pair getting their own half-hour variety series in 1977.

Shields and Yarnell divorced in the mid-1980s but continued to work together until 2009.

Yarnell also played the part of robot Dot Matrix (voiced by Joan Rivers) in Mel Brook’s “Spaceballs” in 1987.
