Gwar’s Bloody Tour Of Horror

Gwar is gearing up for the Daisies, Unicorns and Cupcakes Tour. Just kidding. Now that really would be frightening. The shock rock/metal band’s appropriately named “Bloody Tour of Horror” trek will be scaring the faint of heart across the U.S. and Canada this fall.

The tour is in support of the band’s “newest and sickest album yet,” its upcoming twelfth studio album, Bloody Pit of Horror.  The album, which shares its name with a 1965 Italian gothic horror film, will be released later this year on Metal Blade Records.

“Bloody Tour of Horror” is a follow-up to this year’s GWAR-BBQ tour. Gwar spent the spring touring the U.S. and is currently in the midst of a European tour.

Here’s what singer Oderus Urungus has to say about the band’s heavy tour schedule.

“Nothing less than the utmost display of blatant aggression will suffice to appease the lust of our fans, especially in this, our extra violent 25th Anniversary. It is patently unfair to compare our exploits with that of other bands … they are, after all, only human.”

Bloody Tour of Horror kicks off Oct. 2 at Sonar in Baltimore and wraps up with a festival appearance Nov. 6 at Fun Fun Fun Fest at Waterloo Park in Austin, Texas.

Additional dates include The Vogue in Indianapolis (Oct. 4), The Masquerade in Atlanta (Oct. 10), House Of Blues in Cleveland (Oct. 13), Theatre Telus in Montreal (Oct. 17), Harpo’s Concert Theatre in Detroit (Oct. 30) and House Of Blues in New Orleans (Nov. 4).

Tickets go on sale to fan club members beginning Wednesday, Aug. 11. Tickets go on sale to the general public Aug. 20 and Aug. 21.

Tomorrow Gwar plays Sziget Festival at Obuda Island in Budapest, Hungary, followed by gigs in the Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands and United Kingdom.

When I think of Gwar, I think of this clip from the 1995 film “Empire Records.” Enjoy!
