Sum 41 Frontman In Bar Fight

Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley was brought to a hospital in Osaka, Japan, Aug. 5 after getting involved a bar fight.

Reports in various media said that Whibley was “attacked” by three men while he was drinking with other band members. The reports don’t mention if the men were Japanese or non-Japanese or what led to the altercation.

Osaka police are reportedly investigating the incident.

Doctors gave Whibley an MRI scan and determined that he had suffered a slipped disc.

They advised him to cancel his performances over the weekend.

Sum 41 was scheduled to play the Osaka leg of the Summer Sonic festival on Saturday and the Tokyo leg on Sunday.
Whibley ignored the doctors’ advice and played both shows.

Sum 41 is very popular in Japan, and last year released a Japan-only greatest hits album.
