Star City To Get Vegas Makeover

Sydney’s Star City parent company Tabcorp wants to turn the Australian gaming/entertainment venue into a “world class” entertainment venue – and has hired Las Vegas designers as part of a $787 million makeover.

The casino will be repositioned so that every seat in the venue will get a view of Sydney Harbour.

New attractions will include a luxury 172-suite hotel, 3,000-seat event arena, separate convention centre and up to 20 new restaurants, bars and cafes.

High rollers will be flown in from around the world in two private jets. Managing director Sid Vaikunta said the move was expected to draw business away from the Crown Casino entertainment complex in the southern city of Melbourne.

“We lose about $300 million to Melbourne a year,” he said.
