Wasted Space Shuttering

The Wasted Space nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas will close its doors this fall to make room for a new race and sports book.

The 350-capacity club currently has acts scheduled through September and a spokeswoman for Hard Rock told the Las Vegas Sun an official closing date hasn’t been set.

Likewise, reasons for the closure weren’t immediately clear as company officials declined to comment on the matter, the Sun said.

According to an SEC filing earlier this year, Hard Rock reported that revenues at the club had increased $1.6 million in 2009.

The venue was opened by motocross racer Corey Hart in 2008 and included star-powered investors such as baseball’s Jason Giambi and Joel and Benji Madden.

Artists still on the books at the Wasted Space include Hot Hot Heat, Adler’s Appetite, Chase Long Beach and L.A. Guns.

Hard Rock has also announced it’s signed a deal with Cantor Gaming to operate the new sports book at the property.
