Outside Lands Attracts 80,000

You can bet Outside Lands organizers have plenty of reasons for popping the champagne this week – 80,000 reasons.

That’s how many people flocked to the third annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival held at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park Aug. 14-15. The two-day festival, known for combining music with the Bay Area’s best food and beverages, featured performances by Furthur feat. Phil Lesh & Bob Weir, The Strokes, My Morning Jacket, Kings Of Leon, Phoenix, Social Distortion, Al Green, Gogol Bordello and Levon Helm Band.

All in all, 55 acts appeared on five stages as festivalgoers feasted on some of the best food and wine the area has to offer.

The festival, organized by Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Productions and Starr Hill Presents, also raised more than a little cash for its festival partner, San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, bringing the three-year grand total donated to the department to almost $3 million.
