Badu’s Bad Timing

Erykah Badu’s Aug. 14 concert at Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta was reportedly cut short because the singer was late getting to the stage.

About an hour after opening act Bilal had finished, Badu’s band took the stage and began playing. The singer reportedly didn’t appear until about five minutes after that, starting the show at 9:50 p.m., according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Just over an hour into Badu’s set, the power was reportedly shut down because of an 11 p.m. cutoff time at the shed. The surprised singer had no choice but to bow and exit as some audience members began to boo, the paper said. Despite the curfew, Badu received great reviews for her “smoldering” performance.

A Chastain Park Amphitheatre rep was not available for comment at press time.
